Commercial Finance Analyst

Job Description

The Commercial Finance Analyst will be responsible for driving financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, business performance analysis, and commercial decision support. The role focuses on delivering accurate financial insights, supporting strategic business decisions, optimising profitability, and ensuring data integrity across the organisation.

The position requires close collaboration with Finance, Commercial, Accounting, and Leadership teams to provide meaningful financial analysis, improve reporting processes, and support business growth initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead the preparation and execution of the 5-Year Plan, annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and financial planning processes.
  • Perform variance analysis on monthly financial performance against budgets and key performance indicators.
  • Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide actionable insights to improve business performance and profitability.
  •  

2. Business Performance & Commercial Support

  • Partner with business leaders to provide financial guidance and commercial decision support.
  • Analyse profitability across states, channels, and distributors to identify growth opportunities.
  • Support pricing strategies through market cost card analysis and ensure compliance with pricing guidelines.
  • Evaluate commercial investments and perform ROI analysis on customer discounts and promotional programs.

3. Financial Reporting

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for regional and senior leadership teams.
  • Generate internal and external financial reports in line with statutory and group reporting requirements.
  • Present financial trends, forecasts, and performance insights to management.
  • Maintain high standards of data accuracy, integrity, and reporting quality.

4. Credit Control & Financial Operations

  • Lead credit control and accounts receivable activities.
  • Support monthly financial closing activities in collaboration with the Finance and Accounting teams.
  • Monitor working capital and distributor margins through financial analysis.
  • Ensure efficient financial processes and compliance with internal controls.
  •  

5. Process Improvement & Automation

  • Drive reporting automation initiatives to improve financial reporting efficiency.
  • Enhance financial systems and reporting tools to maximise data availability and business insights.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve operational efficiency.
  •  

6. Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with Commercial, Finance, Accounting, and cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
  • Provide financial recommendations to senior management based on detailed analysis.
  • Support strategic projects and represent the finance function in business initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional qualification such as CA or MBA (Finance/Accounting/Business).
  • Minimum 7 years of post-qualification experience in Commercial Finance or Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A).
  • Experience working in commercial finance within a business environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
